When I was pregnant with Little Miss, it was summer and I would have been happy to run around naked because I was so hot and uncomfortable. With Mr. Man, it was a different story. Contrary to popular belief, it does get cold here in Seattle and I was constantly freezing. I would have been so happy to have a Belly Sock. Belly Sock was invented by Seattle mother Deborah Grover, who wanted to wear her favorite sweater when she was pregant with her daughter but it just wouldn't fit over her growing belly.
I had my Pregnant "tester", Crystal (due at the end of Feb.) try out the Belly Sock, and here is what she had to say:
I've gotten to the point where my I either have to constantly pull my shirt down because it's too short, or I get a draft because my shirt just hangs out over my belly. It feels very comforting (and warm!)to actually have something covering up my belly all the time. I also have noticed that I'm not hiking up my pants every five minutes like I was before. Now I only have to readjust everything whenever I bend over to pick something up.

Crystal also expressed interest in using the Belly Sock for nursing:
I'm very interested in wearing one for nursing to eliminate the bare skin that comes with lifting up my shirt. I didn't mind nursing with a blanket when Nadia was small, but as Nadia got older, the blanket just became a hassle. She didn't want to be covered, and I didn't like fighting her. I would just lift up my shirt and stick her on, but there was always some skin showing. No big deal at home obviously, but it always made me a little self-conscious when we were out in public.
Why is it that every cool product for babies comes out AFTER I need it? I would have loved to keep my belly nice and warm (and not have a sticky baby up against me in the summer time!) while nursing.
Belly Sock has generously donated one maternity and one nursing Belly Sock to the Great Northwest Giveaway. That would be quite a help to anyone who is expecting! Think about all the things you could keep in your wardrobe from your non-pregnancy clothes?
Stay tuned for more details on the the Giveaway. We are hoping to start entries on Wednesday of this week (we are still waiting on a few of the donations to roll in!).
