Born Green: gDiapers

Being Green, or going green isn't easy. Really, if you think about it, it is the opposite of convenience right? I mean, convenience is the way we got ourselves into this mess right? We wanted everything to be simple and easy, and ended up creating a lot of waste. Hey I am guilty as the next person, my children have both used disposable diapers, and I have been known to drive to the grocery that is only four blocks away, I also have thrown my coffee cups in the trash instead of the recycle.
But what about something that makes it a little easier to do the right thing? gDiapers are just that kind of product. I know a lot of people, myself included, that have stayed away from cloth diapering because of all the washing, drying, and frankly, the dumping of the poo in the toilet. Well what if you could make that easier AND do something good for the environment?

That's where gDiapers come in handy! gDiapers are flushable inserts with reusable diaper covers. Great idea right? I think so too. All the environmental friendliness and none of the washing of cloth. The gDiapers contain no chlorine, no perfumes, no plastic and the wet ones can also be composted and will break down in 50-100 days. To flush, you simply pull the insert out of the little shell, pull it apart, and swish it in the toilet (in the starter pack they give you a nice little swirling stick to help with this process) and flush. The gDiaper people do encourage you to "know thy toilet" and have a whole section on what usually works and doesn't for specific kinds of toilets. (I have always wanted to try these as and alternative to cloth and disposables but, sadly we live in 100 yr old house with horrible plumbing and I have a feeling it would not work for us. But honestly, I have no excuses, because gDiapers are free of plastic, they are safe to throw away and will degrade in the trash- MUCH better than regular disposables that will take eons to degrade.)
g not only creates a good product that is great for the environment and your children, they are a GREAT company. I was so happy to read about their family friendly policies. It is so refreshing to hear about a company that really cares for their employees. Here is what gDiapers has to say:

Speaking of children, we have two and if there's one thing we understand, it is that their needs don't wait until the end of the workday. Up until the Industrial Revolution came along and separated parents and children, families always worked together. So, we encourage our working parents to bring their kids to work. We have an on-site child development center. If mom needs to nurse or wants some playtime with her baby, gDiapers is set up to accommodate her needs. If a child is sick, by all means, go home. We hope everyone feels better soon. If dad wants to see Jr. in the school talent show in the middle of the day, he has our blessing. In fact, we may come with him.

Show of hands, who wants to work at gDiapers? Yeah, me too!

Oh - I so want to work at gDiapers too! It stands to reason that a company making a product so good for kids and their earth would be so good to families too. I'm looking really forward to this giveaway!

Having met the Co-founders and most of the G crew in Portland I can attest to their amazing-ness! They are a wonderful group of people with an enormous amount of information and
wisdom in all things green and earth friendly. I look up to them as people as well as a product brand. Thanks for putting the word out there about them. ~Jaimey Buquet

We've used g's for almost one year now, since DS was 15 months old. I wish I had known about them when he was a little baby.
You can compost wet g's too, if you can't flush. I highly recommend these to anyone who's even the teensiest bit interested in environmentally-friendly childrearing. Oh! And, gDiapers are certified Cradle to Cradle too!
