Ok so what have we covered so far, soy stuffed animals, organic body care, organic baby gifts, safe sippy cups, no-waste lunch options, natural rubber pacifiers, eco-friendly detergent, sustainable bamboo clothes, safer water bottles, and BPA-free breastmilk storage. WOW! Quite a spread huh? So let's talk about something else on the green baby front, food!
Jack's Harvest was created by two moms in Atlanta, Georgia who wanted to make great tasting food free of pesticides, chemical fertilizers and genetic modifications. And boy have they made some fantastic foods! I wish this blog had smell-o-vision because these frozen goodies smell wonderful. You know what these are? They are the perfect foods for your little one- the food that you would make yourself if you had the time (and energy- and believe me, energy is hard to come by when you have a little one, or two, or etc.). Jack's Harvest has three types of foods for each of your little one's stages of eating- "so smooth", "tasty textures" and "a little lumpy". Jack's Harvest does ship their frozen foods all over the USA. They tell me that they have had a lot of play groups and mommy groups ordering together in order to defray the costs. Smart! I am going to have to see if I can get a Seattle group started!
Mr. Man was sent some of these cute as a button, heart-shaped, frozen cubes to try out. We got "a little lumpy" flavors since Mr. Man just turned a year old. He is starting to experiment with a spoon and he loves to eat finger foods. His favorite so far has been "veg out with potatoes & broccoli" - he was so mad this evening when it was all gone that he cried! I love that he will eat green veggies- and I love that with Jack's Harvest, I can be assured that there is nothing but the best and safest ingredients in his food. Another great thing about Jack's Harvest is that they aren't shy about introducing babies to new flavors using organic spices and herbs. And why not? Adults love flavorful foods and there is no reason babies can't try them as well. My Indian friends can attest to the fact that babies can eat flavorful foods and be just fine! We also tried the "cauli-baba potatoes with a touch of turmeric, cumin & lime" and my, what a good smell when warmed! My baby was eating better than I was with my reheated leftovers!
Jack's Harvest has contributed a $25 gift certificate to the Born Green First Prize winner so that they can try out the wonderful, fresh and organic, and dare I say, gourmet baby foods for their little ones!

Jack’s Harvest is AMAZING!!!! My little guy ate it as soon as he was eating solid foods and he would get so excited (so would I) when he ate it. Not only it is good for the little ones, it is amazing as smoothies (strawberry/banana) and mixed in with your favorite recipe to sneak in some goodness for the older ones (including yourself and spouse)and they have some great recipes on their website. They are also a very “hands on and informative” company and if you have any questions, they know their stuff and extremely willing help. The other thing that I really like about them is that you don’t waste the product – you use what you need, when you need it – not to mention that they don’t come in plastic containers that could be harmful when you heat in microwave. As soon as you taste it - you will be sold on it!
