I need tips on how to get my daughter to take a bottle, and how to stretch out her feedings!!?
My daughter is 18wks old and she refuses to take a bottle. I’ve tried the ventaires by platex,nuk by gerber,and elan evenflo bottles(it came with the pump). I’ve also tried to place breast milk on the nipple. She plays around with the nipple and sometimes she’ll take a couple of sips. Then she’ll have a fit and start pushing the bottle out of her mouth. I’m trying to prepare her for daycare(in the event that I find a job soon).
I’m also worried because I’ve gotten two conflicting requests from two doctors(in the same practice). One wants me to continue to feed her on que, and the other wants me to stretch her feedings out to atleast three hours (because she weighs 17lbs 1oz). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?
I had this problem too. Wait until your baby is very hungry. Do not feed her for at least 3 hrs. Then feed her breastmilk with a dropper. If she is hungry, she will take it. The next day, do it again. On the third day, put some drops of milk on the bottle nipple and see if she will suck it. Do not try to bottle feed her first thing in the morning or before bedtimes. That will just really tick her off. As for stretching out her feedings because she is presumably big, that is ridiculous. Breastfed babies cannot be overfed. Feed her when she wants it. You are doing a great job!
